Rooftop Duct Supports by MIRO Industries are easy-to-install and long-lasting frame support stands for supporting rooftop ductwork, pipes, RTU units, condensers, or cable tray systems. The 6-DS, 8-DS, and 10-DS are frames constructed of strut and MIRO’s patented bases. They are available in multiple configurations for side-by-side duct, stacked duct, enclosed duct supports, and more.

Common Features

All three models share the same core design and capabilities:

Construction: Frame constructed of strut channel and MIRO’s patented deck bases

Applications: Support single or multiple tiers of duct, pipe, cable trays, and more

Adjustability: Duct rests on a channel strut, which is adjustable up and down using channel nuts in corner brackets

Configurations: Available in an open configuration or can be made to enclose the duct on the bottom and top

Custom Fabrication: All DS supports are job-specific, so their size can be made to fit any duct size that your project requires

Base Material Options: Polycarbonate is standard. Stainless steel is also available.

Performance Specifications

Maximum Loading: Maximum loading from any MIRO base to the finished roof surface is not to exceed 3.0 psi unless specifically allowed otherwise in project specifications.

Deflection Limit: Deflection in the horizontal header bar is not to exceed the span length divided by 360 or 1/8”

Recommended Spacing: Manufacturer’s recommended spacing is not to exceed 8-foot centers, depending on the load.

6-DS Specifications

  • Deck Base Size: 9” x 15.25”
  • Channel Strut Size: 1-5/8” x 13/16”
  • Minimum Clearance: 12” above roof
  • Maximum Clearance: Typical 6-DS supports do not exceed 36” above roof. For higher clearance, see 8-DS.
  • Base Material: Polycarbonate is standard. Stainless steel is also available.

8-DS Specifications

  • Deck Base Size: 16” x 18”
  • Channel Strut Size: 1-5/8” x 1-5/8”
  • Minimum Clearance: 14” above the roof
  • Maximum Clearance: The maximum height of 8-DS depends on project requirements
  • Base Material: Polycarbonate is standard. Stainless steel is also available.

10-DS Specifications

  • Deck Base Size: 19” x 23”
  • Channel Strut Size: 1-5/8” x 1-5/8”
  • Minimum Clearance: 14” above the roof
  • Maximum Clearance: The maximum height of 10-DS depends on project requirements
  • Base Material: Polycarbonate is standard. Stainless steel is also available.

Configuration Options

Open Configuration: Duct rests on bottom support struts only.

Enclosed Configuration: The support can be made to enclose the duct on the bottom and the top.

Information Required for Quote

To receive pricing for these supports, you will need to provide:

  1. Dimensions of duct
  2. Clearance height above the roof
  3. Total footage of duct
  4. Insulation size (if any)
  5. Does the duct need to be enclosed?

Key Differences Between Models

The primary differences between the 6-DS, 8-DS, and 10-DS are:

Base Size:

  • 6-DS: 9” x 15.25”
  • 8-DS: 16” x 18”
  • 10-DS: 19” x 23”

Channel Strut Size:

  • 6-DS: 1-5/8” x 13/16”
  • 8-DS and 10-DS: 1-5/8” x 1-5/8”

Minimum Clearance:

  • 6-DS: 12”
  • 8-DS and 10-DS: 14”

Typical Maximum Height:

  • 6-DS: 36” above roof (for higher clearance, see 8-DS)
  • 8-DS and 10-DS: Project-specific

Installation Features

Vertical Adjustment: The channel nuts in the corner brackets allow the horizontal support strut to be adjusted up and down during installation.

Membrane Compatibility: The base designs are compatible with various roofing membranes.

Load Distribution: Each support distributes loads across the roofing membrane to maintain loading at or below 3.0 psi.

Custom Fabrication

All 6-DS, 8-DS, and 10-DS supports are job-specific and custom-fabricated. Their size can be made to fit any duct size that your project requires.
